1. Not professional advice

GetUpdates.ai publishes personal narratives, essays, and general explainers about life and work alongside AI. Nothing on the Site is professional, legal, or financial advice, and no content creates any kind of advisory relationship. Content is not a substitute for guidance from a qualified professional who knows your situation.

You are solely responsible for any action you take based on Site content, and you assume all risk associated with those decisions.

2. How our stories are made

Our narrators are house bylines: consistent editorial voices maintained by GetUpdates.ai and produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools. They are not real individuals. Stories are derived from real people's experiences and are often composites; names, locations, timelines, and identifying details are frequently changed, combined, or omitted to protect privacy.

Because of this, no story should be read as a verified account of any specific identifiable person, or a statement about any named individual, institution, product, or provider. Any resemblance to a specific person beyond what a contributor knowingly shared with us is unintended.

3. Accuracy, currency, and outside links

Things change fast. We publish in good faith but make no representation that content is complete, current, or error-free, and we may edit, update, unpublish, or remove anything at any time without notice. The Site is provided on an informational basis only.

The Site links to third-party sources and may embed third-party content. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party sites, their accuracy, or their privacy practices. Links are not endorsements.

4. Advertising, sponsorships, and affiliate disclosure

The Site may display advertising served by third-party networks, sponsored placements, and affiliate links from which we may earn a commission. Advertising is separate from editorial: advertisers and sponsors do not review, approve, or direct our stories, and the presence of an ad is not an endorsement of the advertised product, service, or claim.

Sponsored or paid content, when it appears, is labeled as such. Third-party advertising partners may collect data about your visit as described in our Privacy Policy. Any transaction you enter into with an advertiser is between you and that advertiser.

5. Submitting your story

If you submit a story, message, or other material ("Submission"), you represent that: you are at least 18 years old; the Submission is your own experience or one you have the right to share; you have not included another person's confidential personal information without their permission; and the Submission does not infringe anyone's rights or violate any law or agreement.

You retain ownership of your Submission. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable, transferable license to use, reproduce, adapt, edit, translate, retell, excerpt, publish, distribute, and promote the Submission and derivative works of it, in any media and in our narrators' voices, including for advertising and promotion of the Site. You waive any moral rights and any right to inspect or approve the final published form beyond the review we offer as a courtesy. We are not obligated to publish anything, and we may decline, edit, or later remove any Submission.

You choose how you are credited (full name, initials, pseudonym, or anonymous). We will honor your choice, but we cannot control what others do with published content once it is online, and we cannot guarantee that a determined reader will not recognize a story. Do not send us anything you would not want published in some form. Submissions are not confidential.

If you want your story removed after publication, email us and we will remove or de-identify it within a reasonable time. Copies held by search engines, caches, or third parties are outside our control.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Site for any unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or fraudulent purpose;
• scrape, crawl, harvest, or use automated means to collect content, or use Site content to train machine-learning models, without our written permission;
• copy, republish, or redistribute substantial portions of our content, or create derivative works from it, except for brief quotation with attribution and a link;
• interfere with the Site's operation or security, attempt unauthorized access, or circumvent any access control;
• impersonate anyone, submit false information, or misrepresent your connection to a person or organization;
• use the Site to advertise, solicit, or promote products or services without our consent.

We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, and disable accounts at any time, at our discretion, without notice or liability.

7. Our intellectual property

Except for Submissions and third-party material, all content on the Site — text, editorial voices and narrator personas, images, design, code, and the GetUpdates.ai name and marks — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to view the Site for personal, non-commercial use. All other rights are reserved.

8. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to legal@getupdates.ai identifying the work, the material at issue, your contact information, and a statement of good-faith belief and accuracy. We respond to valid notices and may remove material or disable access.

9. Accounts

Some areas require an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEITHER GETUPDATES.AI NOR ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR ANY CONTENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). These limits apply regardless of the legal theory and survive termination.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GetUpdates.ai and its owners, officers, contributors, and service providers from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Site, your Submissions, or your breach of these Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Any claim not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there.

To the extent permitted by law, claims may be brought only in an individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative proceeding, and any claim must be filed within one year after it arises or it is permanently barred.

14. Changes and general terms

We may update these Terms at any time by posting a revised version with a new effective date; continued use after that date means you accept the changes. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us regarding the Site.
